Bike Course

Participants will bike out to Moore St before completing 2 loops (outlined in yellow), then biking back to transition. Youth triathlon athletes will only compete 1 loop. 

Course

The swim takes place in an olympic-sized outdoor pool, the bike will be contested on roads through historic Princeton, and the run will take place on a paved running path around a park. See below for detailed course maps.

Full Course Description

 

Swim Course

Swimmers are to follow a "snake" pattern, swimming up and back within a large lap lane three times in a 50 meter pool for a total of 6 laps (300 meters). Youth triathletes will complete only 2 laps (100 meters). See the attached map for details. 

Note: Youth athletes must be able to swim 100m on their own. This is essential for safety.

Also, there is absolutely no changing for adults or youth in the transition area -- please wear something to swim in that can be used to bike and run in as well. You are welcome to go into the locker room to change clothes if you would like to take the extra time to do so.

This run course will be used for all running legs excluding the first duathlon run and the youth triathlon run (both pictured below).

Tertiary Run Course (Youth Tri Only)

This run course will only be used for the third leg of the Youth Triathlon event.

Division Scoring / Awards:

The top male and female high school triathletes will receive the High School Triathlon Belt (design coming soon), and the 2nd and 3rd place male and female high school triathletes will receive medals. 

The winning high school team will receive a special award. The scoring is similar to cross country scoring and will take into account the following events: SuperSprint Triathlon, SuperSprint Relay. More information will be released closer to the event.

Waves and Water Temperature

There will be a varying amount of time in between waves and 10 seconds in between each swim start. Athletes are to self-sort themselves into waves upon registration. 

Wave 1 (purple cap) - Paratriathlon athletes, and all duathlon athletes. 

Wave 2 (green cap) - Experienced swimmers (expected time < 6 minutes).

Wave 3 (yellow cap) - Average swimmers (expected time > 6 minutes).

Wave 4 (red cap) - Inexperienced swimmers (not expecting fast time).

Wave 5 (orange) - All youth triathletes. 

Race day water temperature: TBD

Depending on the race day water temperature, wetsuits may or may not be allowed. For more info, see bellow for the official USAT wetsuit rules:

  • 78°F or below: participants may wear wetsuits. 
  • 78.1°F - 83.9°F: participants may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards
  • 84°F or aboveparticipants may NOT wear wetsuits

Packet Pickup / Registration Instructions

Registration is digital. There are no paper applications and cash is not accepted. Online registration closes at the start of the race. 

Packet pickup will begin at 5:30am on race day. Please have the following items easily accessible at that time:

  • Proof of ID 
  • USAT membership ID

The PHS Triathlon Club has been the high school state champion for the past 2 years and has over 50 active members. The goal of the club over its 3 years of existence has been to break barriers for multisport competition and foster a supportive environment for all youth athletes.
