Features: A post-race marine conservation resource area and a health and wellness market.
Partners: Hosted with 365 Hawaii Island Community Fund and sponsored by local Kona businesses.
The event is designed to promote awareness of ocean conservation, coral spawning, and highlight the innovative technologies at HOST Park
This is an out and back 5k "race to the reef" to raise funds and awareness for ocean conservation in West Hawaii. The race is entirely on pavement. We will start near the West Hawaii Explorations Academy and head down to the ocean at HOST Park.
Proceeds go to the Kohala Center for the free mineral sunscreen dispensers at Kahaluu Bay, Ocean Defenders Alliance and Ka Ke Ola.
Each entrant receives a gift bag, fabulous prizes will be raffled off, and top winners receive local excursion/night stays in Kona!
After the race, stay and enjoy the resource tables with marine conservation companies and non profits available to share information and offer volunteer opportunities.
There is a small parking lot next to WHEA available, and parking along the street, as well.
Get your race packets on April 24th from 3-6 pm at the Gateway Center lanai.
Top finishers will receive prizes, no age group prizes.
