About Rally for Research

On Saturday, April 4th at 4 PM, the Harvard Tech and Global Health Initiative is hosting a 5k for participants to run/walk in support of cancer research! The funds raised from participants’ entries and donations go directly towards the American Association for Cancer Research, Mass General Cancer Center, and Christopher’s Haven Boston. 

Schedule:

2 PM - Participants should begin checking in for their bibs. Check in is located at Christian A Herter Park by the start/finish area (see course map below).

3:45 PM - Final Call for Check in, Pre-Race Acknowledgements and Address Speech

4 PM - Race Start!

4:45 PM- Awards Ceremony!

Transportation and Parking

Starting Location

The event begins at right by Christian A Herter Park.

 

Public Transportation Options

By Train (T):

There is no subway stop directly at the park. The closest major stations are Harvard Square (Red Line) and Central Square (Red Line), both requiring a short bus ride or walk to reach the park.

By Bus:

70 Bus and 86 Bus to Western Ave @ Everett St. From there, it is a 5–7 minute walk (300–500m) to the park.

Walking & Biking Access

The start area is conveniently accessible via the Emerald Necklace bike and pedestrian path. Nearby roads and parking areas also provide short walking distances to the event site.

Driving & Parking Information

Free parking lots are available off Soldiers Field Road near the park but may fill quickly on weekends.
Limited street parking is available in nearby neighborhoods; please observe posted restrictions.
Additional paid parking options can be found within walking distance along Western Avenue.

Race Map

Route starts at Christian Herter Park. Then, it continues along Dr. Paul Dudley White Path and crosses Elliot bridge. After the 2nd Mile, it crosses Arsenal Street Bridge and continues to finish past the start line in Herter Park.

Please remember that the course uses shared path. Please give way to other users!
