Loyalty Registration for past participants is open from November 1 - December 31, 2025.  You must have registered using the same RunSignup account to register early for the best pricing.  General registration opens on January 1, 2026.

The 2026 Reading Hospital Road Run, hosted by The Friends of Reading Hospital, will include our standard in-person event distances of 1/2 marathon and 5K races and 1 mile fun walk/run to be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026.  The deadline to get a guaranteed shirt is September 15, 2026.

1/2 Marathon 8:00am

5K 8:05am

Both distances will be chip-timed.  The course will start and finish in front of the iconic clock tower and will loop around the park and neighborhoods south of the hospital campus.  All participants will receive a short-sleeve wicking race shirt (must register by September 15th to be guaranteed your size). 5K awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall as well as in the following age groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+.  1/2 Marathon awards will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall as well as in the following age groups: 19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+.

1 Mile Fun Walk/Run - 10:30am

This untimed event will start on Spruce Street at 6th in front of the clock tower and finish on 6th directly in front of the clock tower at the hospital.  

The Reading Hospital Road Run will feature a half marathon that crosses into the city of Reading and then travels through much of the Wyomissing Park system before finishing back at the hospital:

Do you offer race day / in person registrations?

Registration will remain open online through race day.  Anyone not yet registered can still do so until 8:00am on race day, but new runners must register themselves and pay online on their own device before proceeding to packet pickup. NO PAPER registration will be provided, nor will race day staff assist with registering race-day signups. We strongly recommend race-day entrants register on your own at home on or prior to race morning to ensure adequate time to troubleshoot any problems prior to arrival. 

Can I get a refund if I can't attend?

Reading Hospital Road Run is a fundraiser for The Friends of Reading Hospital. No refunds will be given.

Is the course fully closed to vehicles?

Course roadways will have limited closures the morning of the race beginning at 7:40 a.m. and are expected to reopen by 11:30 a.m. Note that many roadways will not be fully closed to traffic during the events, so participants must pay attention to their surroundings and all directions of course officials.  Residents along the race route are encouraged to leave extra time if they need to travel in the race area on race morning, a limited closures or delays will be in place.

Do you allow Strollers, Bikes, Pets, Music Devices?

For your safety, strollers, bikes and pets are explicitly prohibited during the Fun Run, 5K and Half Marathon events. We strongly discourage the use of personal music devices during the race for your safety.

Where can I park on race day?

Free parking for all runners will be located in the Spruce Parking lot, located on the corner of 6th Avenue and Spruce.  This Garage can be accessed from 5th Avenue as well as 6th Avenue.

Where and when can I get my race packet?

Packet Pick-Up is on Sunday, October 18, from 6:30 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. for the 5K & 1/2 marathon run and until 10:00 a.m. for the 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run.

Is there a postrace party?

We encourage all runners and their families to join us post-race in our outdoor celebration area for light refreshments and awards ceremonies for both the 5K and half marathon events.  Food Trucks will be available for food for purchase.

Can I volunteer to help if I don't want to take part as a participant?

We need many volunteers! If interested, please contact rhfriends@towerhealth.org. 

If I didn't get the shirt size I wanted, or couldn't stay for the award ceremony, can I get those after the event?

Sorry, no.  After the race leftover shirts and awards are donated to volunteers and/or charities.
