About Rotary International Fishing Classic
40th Annual Rotary International Fishing Classic on Lake Champlain
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT OFFERED TO FIRST 40 ADULTS, 40 YOUTH ANGLERS TO REGISTER
PLATTSBURGH, NY __ The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh will hosts the 40th annual Rotary International Fishing Classic on beautiful Lake Champlain Friday - Sunday, June 5 - 7, 2026. This is the oldest fishing event on the lake, the earliest each year and features all cash individual and team prizes.
The annual Rotary Fishing Classic is a fundraising event for the Rotary club and attracts anglers from all over the Northeastern United States and Canada to the shores of Lake Champlain for three days of nonstop competition fishing for the largest fish among salmon, steelhead, brown trout, lake trout, and walleye!
Cash prize amounts are determined by the pool of registration fees – 50 percent goes to the 1st through 5th place winners and the remaining funds raised support charitable community efforts of the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh.
The individual adult registration fee is $50.00, with prizes for fish in three categories: lake trout, walleye and landlocked salmon (including brown trout and steelhead). Adults and youth all compete in the open division. Prizes are based on weight as well as time weighed in.
The team competition is $50.00 for a team of two-to-four anglers. All team members still pay their individual registration fee. Each team will enter fish from two different categories to be eligible to win.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT MARKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY
In celebration of the 40th annual Fishing Classic, the Rotary Club of Plattsburgh will offer an "Early Bird Discount." The first 40 adult anglers to register will receive a $10.00 discount on their registrations. As well, the first 40 youth anglers to register will each receive a $5.00 discount on their registrations.

Team Rules and Regulations
Any group of two to four anglers, all of whom are also registered individually in the Rotary Fishing Classic as adults (not to include “registered witnesses”), can form a team. The team will then compete together against other teams to enter the best two-fish point combination of the tournament. The registration, point system and payout are separate from the Individual Fishing Classic prizes. If you win, your team could earn up to 50% of the team registration fees, and each angler is still eligible to win additional prizes in the "40th Classic”, as this is a non-exclusive prize.
Team members will cooperate to enter two fish, each from different species categories (Lake Trout, Salmon or Walleye) which, when added together amass the highest number of Classic Team Prize Points. The two fish may be caught by a single member or by any two different members of the team during the regular hours of the Classic. At Rotary Headquarters, computerized results will keep track of the highest two-fish point total for the top three teams at any time. These results will also be communicated among the various weigh-in stations around the lake.
WINNER DETERMINATION
Your entry fee, along with everyone else’s, goes into the ROTARY CLASSIC TEAM POOL which is segregated from the Classic pool of fees. At the end of the tournament, the winning team will receive 50% of whatever is in the pool; the second place team will receive 15%, with the third place team receiving 10% and the final 25% going to support the Rotary club’s work in the community.
|
Species Points are as follows:
| Calculation Example To calculate the team points, the weight is multiplied by the “fish factor” Salmon: weight x 55 = Team Prize Points; Lake Trout: weight x 39 = Team Prize Points; Walleye: weight x 51 = Team Prize Points For example, a salmon is weighed in at 5 pounds = 275 points; the other team member weighs in a Trout at 10 pounds (390). Total team points = 665 |
In addition to the 40th Annual Rotary International Fishing Classic Rules & Regulations, the team shall abide by the following:
A. Each team will be composed of at least two (2) and not more than four (4) members, each having paid the required individual fee.
