The Run for the Gnomes is a community Half Marathon and 5K organized by the Maple Valley Rotary Club to support local charitable causes. This year’s proceeds benefit The More We Love. https://www.themorewelove.org/
When and where is the event?
The event takes place in Maple Valley on the October 3, 2026. Both the start and finish line are in Lake Wilderness Park.
What distances are offered?

What time do the races start?
The Half Marathon starts at 8 AM and the 5K will start at 8:30 AM.
Is the race timed?
Yes. Both the Half Marathon and 5K are chip‑timed for accurate results.
Is there a medal?
Yes. All finishers will receive a medal.
What is the trail surface like?
The course is mostly gravel. Participants should be prepared for uneven surfaces typical of a gravel trail.
Are dogs allowed?
We love dogs, but unfortunately, they are not allowed in this event.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes, strollers are allowed in both the Half Marathon and the 5K.
However, because the trail is primarily gravel, stroller users should exercise caution and be aware of varying surface conditions. You will be asked to start at the back of the pack.
Can I walk the 5K?
Absolutely! Walkers, runners, families, and strollers are all welcome. (See stroller question above).
Where do I pick up my race packet?
Packet pickup details, including locations and times, will be emailed to participants and posted online.
Will there be aid stations?
Yes. Aid stations with water and refreshments will be located along the Half Marathon course. Water will be available at the 5K start/finish area.
Is there a cutoff time?
5K: No cutoff time.
Half Marathon: The cutoff time is 4 hours. If you expect to take longer than 4 hours, you may start early with prior approval from race organizers.
Is there a race shirt?
All participants signed up before September 15 are guaranteed a t shirt.
Where do the race proceeds go?
This year’s race supports The More We Love, helping fund the filling of their pool and the construction of a playground for children in their care.
