Run for the Scrubs 5K: Backing Future Nurses

Get ready to lace up for a cause!

Run for the Scrubs is a timed 5K fun run hosted by the Epsilon Sigma at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Join us at Victor Ashe Park for a morning of movement, motivation, and community spirit—all to raise scholarship funds for future nurses from LMU, ETSU, Milligan, King, and Emory & Henry. Whether you walk, jog, or sprint, every step supports the next generation of nurses. Strollers are welcome!

What is Sigma?
Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing—known simply as Sigma—is a global organization that recognizes excellence in nursing scholarship, leadership, and service. Founded in 1922, Sigma supports nurses in advancing world health through education, research, and professional development.

The Epsilon Sigma at-Large Chapter represents five area universities in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia:

Lincoln Memorial University
East Tennessee State University
Milligan University
King University
Emory & Henry College
Proceeds from the Run for the Scrubs 5K help fund nursing scholarships for students from these institutions.

Are there any discounts available?

Yes! There is $5.00 discount for Sigma Members, just put in your membership number.

*Also, there maybe savings for certain running club members.

Is this a timed race?
Yes, this is a chip-timed 5K. Results will be posted after the event.

Will there be awards or medals?
Yes! All participants will receive a finisher medal.
Awards will be given to:

Top 3 overall male and female finishers
Top 3 male and female finishers in each age group

* No awards will be mailed.  Award ceremony to be held at 10 AM under at the pavilion, 

Can I walk the race or bring a stroller?
Absolutely! Walkers and strollers are welcome. This is a family-friendly event.

Are pets allowed?
Leashed dogs are welcome, but please be mindful of other runners and clean up after your pet.

Where should I park?
Free parking is available at Victor Ashe Park. Volunteers will help direct traffic on race day.

Will there be water stations or first aid?
Yes. There will be a water station along the route and basic first aid available near the finish line.

When can I pick up my race packet ?
Packet pickup details will be posted closer to race day.

Is there a refund policy?
All registrations are non-refundable, but you may transfer your entry to another participant if needed.

What does the race support?
Proceeds go toward nursing scholarships for students at five partner universities through the Epsilon Sigma at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.

Age group and overall awards will be handed out at 10:00 AM. Stick around to cheer on the winners—or grab your medal before heading out if you placed!

Our professional photographer will capture your best moments! Photos will be available for free download after the race—check your post-race email or revisit this page.
