Run Houston! Sam Houston Race Park 5K/10K/Kids K presented by Houston Methodist on January 2nd, 2027. This is the first race of the Run Houston Race Series Commit Challenge!

The Run Houston! Sam Houston Race Park courses are flat and fast. The out-and-back course will start and finish in the SHRP parking lot directly across from the post-race pavilion.  There will be dedicated lanes and police at every intersection to ensure all runners have a safe and enjoyable experience.

5K runners will make one loop around the course and 10K runners will make two loops before proceeding to the finish line.  The kids 1K course will start and finish in the same location as the 5K/10K race.

Course Cutoff Times

The course cutoff time is 1:30:00 for both the 5K and 10K.  Course cutoff times must be strictly adhered to due to the traffic control and county restrictions.

This run will be chip timed. Participants wear a timing chip integrated with their bib number that starts their individual time when they cross the start line and stops it when they cross the finish line.

Participant gear must be picked up at pre-event pickup or event day. After event day gear may not be available for post-race requests. If you do not pick up your participant gear, there will be a fee to have it mailed to you. Post-race shirt request link.

If you ordered your race packet to be mailed to you or signed up for the virtual run, your gear will typically arrive 1 – 4 days before the race day. It will be sent to the address you entered in during registration. If your package does not arrive before the race day, please come to packet pick up or the race site where you will be re-assigned your bib and gear.

Headphones/iPod/mp3 devices are allowed, though are strongly not recommended. It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.

If at any time you require assistance throughout the run please notify a volunteer or course monitor.

All participants are required to sign an online waiver.

No Dogs. Strollers are allowed for walkers & joggers only, must start in the back of the starting corral and the parent/guardian must sign a waiver on behalf of their child(ren) in the stroller.

All water stations include water.

The run will start rain, snow or shine. The run could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions. The above schedule is weather-dependent.

You can transfer to a different distance within the same race at any time. If you are transferring to a more expensive race you’ll have to pay the difference of the registration fees.

You can transfer your registration/bib # to another participant for $6 up to 3 days before the run.

You can defer your registration to next year’s race or any other All Community Events race for $6 up to 17 days before the run. After that, you can still defer for $15 until the day prior to packet pick up. All deferment requests must be sent via e-mail and please include your name, the race you are currently in and which race you would like to defer into.

You can manage your shirt size and any other add-ons up to 10 days before the race day.

Option 2: Packet pick-up information will be posted 2 weeks before the event.

Picking up someone else’s packet, don’t forget you must bring their signed waiver

Option 3: Pick up your packet on race morning (not recommended).

 If you do not pick up your participant gear there will be a fee to have it mailed to you: Post-race event gear registration. See FAQ’s for more details.

There will be free parking available for all runners and spectators at Sam Houston Race Park.  We have created a course maps that you can access to familiarize yourself with the race site and parking areas.  

Parking can be accessed via the South entrance (via Fallbrook).  Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the race to ensure efficient parking due to runners on the street.

5K & 10K AGE GROUPS
A winner medal will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female, in each age group and overall for the 5K & 10K timed divisions in the following age groups based on race day age:

10 & Under, 11 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69, 70 & Over

KIDS 1K AGE GROUPS
Age group awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boys and girls in the following age groups based on race day age:

6 & Under, 7 to 9, 10 to 12

If you do not pick up your medal there will be a $5 fee to have it mailed to you. Post-race medal request registration.
