  • Packet pick-up is optional, so if you cannot make it- don't worry. Packets can be picked up on race day starting at 7 am in LOT 25. The gates to the STATE PARK open at 7am.

Write a New Year resolution on the back of your bib and RUN, JOG, or WALK it into the new year. 

The course is the flat and fast, paved, wide State Park path, watching and listening to the surf.! GEAR CHECK is available, if needed, at the Caren Ware Events BOOTH.  Put your bib number on a tag and pin to your gear.

The event is in the farthest western lot- Lot 25, closest to Warner & PCH, but to enter the park use the following address: 17851 Pacific Coast Hwy.

Race Day Schedule:

• 6:00 am: Gates Open
• 7:00 am: Race Day Packet Pick-Up Begins (Lot 25)
• 8:00 am Half Marathon Start for those that will take more than 3 hours and 45 minutes to finish
• 8:30 am: Half Marathon Start (Must cross the starting arch by 8:05 am)
• 8:40 am: Kid’s Dash
• 9:00am: 5K/10K Mass Start (Must cross the starting arch by 9:05 am)
• 9:40am: 5K Awards Ceremony begins.
• 10:00 am 10K awards
• 10:30 announcing of overall Half marathon awards

8:30 am start for HALF MARATHON.  You have until 8:35 to pass under the arch.  9:00am start for 5k/10K.  You have until 9:05 am to pass under the arch.  All 5k/10K must start before the lead half marathoner finishes.   YOUR START TIME does not start until you cross under the arch. Fastest runners in the front, and those looking to place in their age group division. Wear your bib on the front.  Make sure you run the distance on your bib or exchange it for the correct one of your choice at the Solutions/Late registration table if you decide to change races.

Visit the Speciality Coffee Booth, Fresh baked cookies (GALLETINAS BOOTH),  fresh cut fruits,  and street tacos and tamales will be there.

Awards:

There are “In It To Win It” age categories 3 deep with 5 year age spans: 1-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39 40-44, 45-49, 50-54,55-59 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84 and 85 & over.

Course

Flat and fast, or slow and easy, make it the pace you want it. This 5K/10K course runs along the beach bike path at Bolsa Chica, Huntington Beach State Beach. Families can bring strollers but agree to use at their own risk.  Half Marathon Course: Flat, fast, perfect for PRs or training for your next marathon.  It is (2)Two loops of the 10k so you get plenty of aid stations, entertainment, and spectator friendly!! Aid Station Every 1.5 Miles

• Water/Gatorade
• Chargel/ Bananas  

FLAT!!! Great for first-time Half Marathoners or those wanting to PR!
Half Marathon Spectators - you can be at the finish line to see runners start then walk about 50 ft towards the runners to see them go on their second loop.

Restrooms:

Restrooms on RACE DAY: are located at each end of the parking lot.  A set by Sea Legs (east) and a set near  Warner Blvd on the west end of the parking lot.

Series mugs will be available at Run in the New Year for $7 if you ran in more than 3 events this past 6 months!

IT"S A PARTY!!  IT'S A CELEBRATION!  It is RUNNING in the NEW YEAR!

Entrance to Lot 25. Use the main entrance which is about 1.5 miles south of lot 25. Make sure that you give yourself enough time to enter the main gate and turn right towards lot 25 which is close to Warner and PCH. Have exact payment to enter state parking lot. If you are getting drop off, you can use warner and pch turn around to get drop off.

WHERE:
Run in the New Year takes place at BOLSA CHICA STATE BEACH , LOT 25 The lot furthest west in the state park / Nearest to Jack in the Box on Warner and Pacific Coast Hwy. But you must enter at the main gate. PLEASE NOTE: State Park will not have that small private gate open for this race as in past years. They have allowed their park staff to be home for the holidays. SO…. All volunteers, vendors , and participants that want to park IN the state park parking lot must enter in the Main Gate on 17951 Pacific Coast Hwy . (This entrance is 1.5 mile East of the race staging area). Enter and stay left. Come on down 1.5 mile and park in the last (west) lot. There is free and meter parking in Sunset Beach. Make sure you DO NOT park in the lot behind the gas station. This is private and belongs to the Market. Thank you.

Time the Run Starts:
  Half Marathon start: 8 am
  5k/10K start: 9 am mass start.

 RUN in THE NEW YEAR has a 5k (3.1 miles), 10K( 6.2 miles), Half Marathon (13.1 miles) distances. Wear your BIB ON THE FRONT. DO NOT take the pull tag off. The chip is under the foam on the back. Do not peel that off! If you decided to downgrade to a shorter distance please let us know as each event has different bib series. Go to LATE REGISTRATION and the SOLUTIONS SIGN.

This is a RFID chip timed event by ITZ ABOUT TIME. There are age division awards 3 deep in 15 age divisions so stick around for the awards in all distances. Look and see if you got a 1 ,2,or 3 by your name in the age div column of the posted results. Awards ceremony will begin at 9:45 for the 5k. 10:15 for the 10K. and half marathon top overalls. Half marathon may pick up there awards at the stage awards table when finished..
Results will be posted that afternoon also on www.itzabouttime.com.

The Bib is a CUSTOM souvenir with a space on the right to write your RESOLUTION. You will get your CUSTOM finisher medal when completing the course at the finish line. THREE PART “We FIT together” series medals will be awarded at the Caren Ware Events booth after you finish your run.

You can pick up your bibs and event shirt on race morning from 7 am to 8:45 am OR at the (optional) Early Packet Pick Up at Roadrunner Sports in Costa Mesa on Friday, Jan. 1st from 3 to 6 pm. (West 19th street and Harbor by the Coffee Bean)
You can pick up other people’s bibs if you have their confirmation printed out.

7. You can run with a stroller or dog but stay to the back of the back of the start pack and to the right-hand side coming and going on the course.

8. We want to hear your fun, silly, serious, or otherwise…2021 New Year’s RESOLUTIONS. Email us at carenfasttrack@aol.com and share your NEW YEAR’s RESOLUTIONS. There will also be board at the awards/volunteer booth to scribble them on.

9. Caren Ware- My resolution is to offer inviting, personable, fun events that encourage EVERYBODY to do something healthy this year. It’s my goal to make sure YOU FIT! Feel like you FIT and make each of our races reach out an help somebody and some bodies!

10. Come dressed to party. Best party hat or glasses contest. We will be offering gimmick hats and glasses for sale if you need to DRESS IT UP! But if you are like me, its quite okay to come dressed as a runner!

Medals
Is my medal and shirt the same as last year?No. But if you missed last year’s and like it better we have some available at the end of each race. Each event year has a new medal and shirt design. (Images on website may be from previous years)

Early Packet Pick Up

Can I register the day of the race? Yes. You can still register up to the gun start of the race. Make sure you have exact cash change. Credit card is also accepted. Or you can go on your phone and register for the event. Then line up under the sign that reads" Late Registration" to pick up your bib.

I can't run, Can I switch to Virtual Run Option? Yes, there is a packet mailing fee of $15. You can have someone pick up your packets to avoid the fee during early packet pick up or on race day. Please give them a copy of your registration confirmation email.

HALF MARATHON is currently permitted for 2 laps of the `10K.  We are hoping to be granted a permit for an out-and-back through to Huntington Dog Beach. AS FLAT AS A COURSE CAN GET!!!  Hear the surf.  Enjoy the beach.
