About Run, Ride, Roll Past Paralysis 5K/ 1 mile
Neuroworx is an outpatient rehabilitation clinic for persons who have suffered a spinal cord injury, brain injury, or other life altering neurological disorder/disease. The purpose of the Run, Ride, Roll event is to allow an inclusive space for our past and current patients as well as others in our community to work toward a goal and participate in an event in a wheelchair, adaptive bike, or walking/running. NEW THIS YEAR! Due to the success of this event, we have started a NEW fund for patients and future patients. All registration fees will go directly toward this fund:
The (STEP) Fund provides financial assistance to help individuals overcome practical barriers that can limit participation in therapy and rehabilitation. Its purpose is to ensure that patients have access to the basic resources needed to fully engage in their recovery and maintain progress outside of clinical settings. Support from the fund may be used for essential needs such as appropriate footwear, orthotics, replacement wheelchair parts, transportation to and from therapy appointments, caregiver assistance to support exercise and mobility at home, and supplemental adaptive or exercise equipment for home use. By addressing these often-unseen challenges, the (STEP )Fund helps remove obstacles to care and supports consistent, meaningful participation in therapy and daily movement toward independence.
The event will begin and end at the Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park. This will be a 5K event with the course entirely on the Jordan River Trail. The course will be a circle format and cross over two bridges. It will first head North on the East side of the trail and will cross over a bridge to come back South on the West side of the trail. We will also now have a 10K option for persons on bike or ski chair. This will involve two laps of the 5K route.
There will also be a 1 mile event offered for those who would like to participate but aren't ready for a full 5K. The 1 mile is an out-and-back format on the West side of the Jordan River Trail.
