Join Us for Luck Stone's 4th Annual Run the Rock | Rockville 5K!

Get ready to conquer the quarry at one of the most unique race experiences around, just minutes from Richmond’s city center. Since first opening our gates to the running community in 2023, our Run the Rock 5K has grown into an incredible tradition, welcoming hundreds of runners, families, neighbors, and community members to experience our Rockville Plant in a whole new way: on foot.

Now entering its fourth year, this event is more than just a race. It’s an opportunity to connect with our community, showcase the place we call home, and invite others to see the energy and people behind our operation.

From conquering gravel hills and scenic quarry views to celebrating together at the finish line, race day is packed with fun for everyone — including local food vendors, family-friendly games & activities, awesome swag, raffles supporting a great cause, and more.

Whether you’re chasing a personal record, taking on the challenge with friends, or simply coming for the experience, we invite you to lace up, show up, and conquer the quarry. 👟

This year, every participant will receive:

• A race day shirt – available in both youth and adult sizes
• A custom water bottle to keep you hydrated before, during, and after the race
• A handy bag to carry all your goodies
• Hot/cold packs – perfect for post-run recovery or everyday aches
• Fun temporary tattoos and stickers to show off your 5K spirit in style!

• 7:30 am to 8:30 am: Event Check-In for Race Participants
• 9:00 am: Race Starts
• 10:15 am: Awards
• 10:30 am: Raffle Winner Announcements
• 10:00 am to 12:00 pm: Post Race Party
• 12:00 pm: Event Concludes 

• Parking will take time, please make sure to park no later than 8:30 am to allow time to check in for the race.
• Parking will be available at the Republic Landfill site (1961 Ashland Road, Rockville VA).
• Volunteers will be helping to direct traffic and directing participants to check in and the start of the race.
• If handicapped parking is needed, it will be available at 1950 Rockville Industrial Way in the paved parking lot in front of the Training Center.

• Race check-in will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
  
  
• The volunteers will direct you across the road to race check-in at the top of the hill.
  
  
• Late participants will not be allowed to enter on the course after the race starts at 9:00 a.m.
  
  
• For identification and emergency purposes, along with ensuring the accuracy of results, participants will not be allowed to check-in under another name. Once your bib is assigned, it cannot be transferred to another participant. 
  

• The race follows left-hand traffic on the way down into the pit. 
• Volunteer course support will be present to help guide participants.
• No restrooms are available along the course.
• A single water station will be located at the midpoint of the race.

It is important to check your race results once you have finished the event. All results are final after the award recognition ceremony.

• Donations can be made on our Donate page here, or you can add a donation upon checkout when you sign up for the race.
• During race day, stop by the raffle booth, buy tickets, and enter for a chance to WIN fantastic prizes!

  • Cash or card will be accepted.  Winners must be in person to win.  Raffle prizes will be announced at 10:30 am.

• For day-of support, look for volunteers wearing high-visibility yellow t-shirts.
• No coolers or alcohol will be allowed.
• Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed on the course.
• Runners are encouraged to wear trail running shoes on this course.
