Run With Shears

Next to the Indiana Statehouse, firefighters and police officers from across the state who gave their lives in the line of duty are memorialized. Join fellow EMS professionals to create an addition to this memorial for emergency medical technicians and paramedics who lost their lives serving our communities. Help us continue to raise funds for this project and kick-off National EMS Week by joining us for the eighth annual Run With Shears on May 16, 2026. This event is proudly hosted by the Indiana EMS Association. We are one of the only EMS 5k races in the United States and annually host hundreds of runners, walkers, and EMS professionals from across the Midwest. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to participate in this annual event along the scenic Downtown Canal in the heart of Indianapolis. EMS professionals and competitive runners alike will love our fast and flat USATF sanctioned course with elite awards, medals, and shirts. Children, and strollers are also welcome.
 
Again this year we’ve added the Kid’s 911 Yard Dash. Bring the kid’s and get them moving. You may register your kid for $5. Kids participating will receive a medal.

Run with Shears 5k Run/Walk and Kids race is based at the beautiful Indiana State Museum Lawn in White River State Park. This space is perfect to allow EMS partners to showcase their vehicles, and for the EPIC helicopter flyover & landing! The route will take participants around the White River and through Military Park.

The kids route is an out/back doing the first portion of the 5k run/walk. It is a .5 mile run.

• Within the past 14 days, have you had contact with anyone that you know that had COVID-19 or COVID-19 like symptoms?
• Have you had a positive COVID-19 test for active virus in the past 10 days?
• Within the past 14 days, has a public health or medical professional told you to self-monitor, self-isolate, or self quarantine because of concerns about COVID-19 infection
• Are you ill or is someone you are caring for ill? 

If you have one or more symptoms listed above, or answered yes to any of the above questions please stay home, and take care of yourself. You can reach out to us to arrange packet shipping or to set up picking up your packet at a later date. Thanks for doing your part to keep us all safe!

Race Morning Parking Info: 

The start/finish is located at White River State Park on the Indiana State Museum Lawn (650 W Washington St Indianapolis, Indiana 46204). Inside the park we will physically be just north of the main entrance to the park (small parking lot at their main entrance), and just west of the Indiana State Museum Lawn along the canal wall. The best parking would be at Republic Parking (white river state parking) also known as the Indiana State Museum garage as it is located just under their front lawn. Please note you there is ample street parking throughout downtown as well. Most is metered parking which you can download the Park Indy App, or check out VISIT Indy here. 

Ultimately there are tons of options with a variety of prices and proximity to the event.

Corporate Sponsorship Levels

• $500 –5 free registrations and booth space at the event
• $1000 –10 free registrations, booth space the event, and logo on the race website as a sponsor for the 2025 race.
• $2000 –20 free registrations, booth space at the event, logo on the race website as a sponsor for the 2025 race, and 2 tickets to the Golden Siren banquet the evening of the race
• $4000 –40 free registrations, booth space at the event, logo on the race website as a sponsor for the 2025 race, a table (8 tickets) at the Golden Siren banquet the evening of the race
• $5000 –50 free registrations, booth space at the event, logo on the race website as a sponsor for the 2025 race, a table (8 tickets) at the Golden Siren banquet, a logo sign at the Golden Siren banquet as a sponsor, logo on the IEMSA website as a partner for one year.

Booth Space = 10’ x 10’ area for you to set up your display.  Sponsor responsible for tents, tables, chairs, etc.

Logo for website = sponsor should send a high quality .jpg or .png to the email below.

Golden Siren Event = catered banquet the evening following the race designed to honor EMS providers who have made significant contributions to EMS in Indiana.

We would love to have you participate in our annual Run With Shears 5k Run/Walk, even if you're not comfortable in a live event quite yet or maybe you'll be traveling. Those who choose to race virtually will have the freedom to sleep-in and run wherever they choose through May 31st. Hit the trails in the afternoon or a treadmill while watching Netflix. Your call!

Packet Pickup/Shipping:

Shipping is included with Virtual registration. Participants may also attend Packet Pick Up if they wish or have a friend pick it up for them. This option does put a little more $$ towards the cause! SWAG will start shipping after May 20th.
