Saddle up for Miggy's Gift 8th Annual Melanoma Walk

Please join us for our 8th annual Melanoma Walk in memory of Stephen "Miggy" Chavez.  "SADDLE UP FOR MELANOMA" is the theme of our event this year.  If you come dressed in a western look, you will receive three (3) free raffle tickets.

The event will take place Sunday, November 15, 2026 at Evelyn Greer Park in the Village of Pinecrest. 8200 SW 124 Street, Pinecrest, Florida  33156

 Check-in begins at 8:00am - Event starts at 9:00am

We are pleased to announce Miggy's Gift has partnered with the Village of Pinecrest Parks and Recreation, and together we will host our 8th Annual Melanoma Walk.

"Saddle up for Melanoma" is the theme of the event this year, taking place on Sunday, November 15th, 2026 at the Evelyn Greer Park in the Village of Pinecrest. Guests will enjoy an educational stroll around the park, food, music, raffle prices, photo booth, pony rides, farm petting zoo, and a silent auction.  Most importantly, we will also offer free skin checks and the opportunity to speak with dermatology healthcare professionals from Baptist Health Herbert Wertheim Cancer Care and Children's Skin Center at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about the dangers of unprotected sun exposure, and the importance of practicing sun safety.

 In the past, attendance has been between 250-300 people.  Participants will receive an event package including sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses, scarves with UPF protection, and literature on skin cancer prevention.  The children will also receive surprises along the walking path.

At Miggy's Gift we are committed to educating children and young adults about the dangers of skin cancer, the importance of prevention, and the urgency of early detection.  We do this by visiting schools, colleges, summer camps, and community health fairs.  In addition, we financially and emotionally assist families who have a child struggling with a cancer diagnosis.  Lastly, in memory of Stephen "Miggy" Chavez, we have an annual scholarship grant at Miami Dade College.  To date, we have granted over $33,000. in scholarship funds.
