San Diego 5K SCADaddle for Research

OUR CAUSE

Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little-known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. Most patients are young, healthy, and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too. SCAD can reoccur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.

SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.

SCADaddle

Our timed 5K run/walk takes place on the south side of Crown Point Park in San Diego on Mission Bay. Enjoy the course along the bay on the bay side walkway.  Free Parking.

Awards will be given to the overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for age groups: 11 and under, 12-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and up.

We are honored to have Dr. Stan Henkin from the Mayo Clinic to join us for the SCAD Social Reunion and the SCADaddle on Friday, September 11, 2026.  Dr. Henkin will present the latest research findings on Friday evening and answer questions as time permits. Dr. Henkin is a Board Certified Cardiologist specializing in vascular medicine, including short and long term management of SCAD and associated arteriopathies, such as Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD) at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.  

Join other SCAD Survivors, their supporters, and Angel Families for a night to meet, eat and learn! An adult dinner and kids' meal will be included in the Reunion final cost!

5-6 pm - Reunion start time! The event will begin with early 5K packet pickup (3-6) and our meet & greet. Shop our SCAD store and meet others impacted by SCAD.

6-9:00pm - Dinner and Presentation - Welcoming remarks, dinner and Dr. Henkin will present Mayo Clinic's latest research findings and answer questions as time permits.

For those of you that are coming from out of town, we have a block of rooms at the Homewood Suites in Liberty Station (San Diego) that are reserved for coming in on the 10th and out on the 14th at a special rate.  You can book for as how many days you need during that time period to get the special rate, just adjust the dates at the top of the page.

Important to Note:

Check-in is at 4PM: To guarantee an early check-in, rooms must be secured the night before. Should guests arrive early, we may not have a room ready before the 4 PM check-in time.
Parking Fees: $15 per vehicle per night
 

Airport Transportation Information.  Please share with your group if needed.

Arrivals:

Before 9:00 PM, call the front desk for instructions. After 9:00 PM, take a cab, UBER, LYFT to the hotel. As long as they have the receipt, we will reimburse them up to $25 cash.

Please see the Front Desk 1 day before departure to schedule a pick up.
