About Satchel's 6th Annual Get Your Mutt Movin' 5K

Join the 5K that supports Sarasota's only true no-kill animal rescue, Satchel's Last Resort. At Satchel's we give all our animals the gift of time. Whether they are with us due to breed, behavior or medical issues, age or just plain bad luck, all our animals get the love and care they deserve until they find their forever home, even if that ends up being with us! You can make a difference by participating in our 6th Annual Get Your Mutt Movin' 5K! 

 

Located at beautiful Payne Park, the scenic 5K flat course with wide paths, sidewalks and plenty of course monitors ensures that first-time walkers and runners (and their pets!) can safely and comfortably participate alongside more experienced runners. 

 

New this year: 

  • Raise at least $250 for Satchel's and get free registration! We provide the tools that will make it easy for you! Pick the fundraising option when you register or add it on at any time- once you hit $250 your registration will be credited back to you. 

  • A new route. No more loops! This year the course extends into the quiet, surrounding neighborhood, still starting and ending in beautiful Payne Park. Plenty of volunteers will be on the course to ensure your safety.

  • A new and improved runner/walker reception area with music, refreshments and an official award ceremony recognizing the top 3 winners in each category!

  • Satchel's will be collecting donations for our cats and dogs at this year's event! Drop off a donation and receive a free raffle ticket! Click here to check out our amazon wish list, but if all else fails, there's no such thing as too many Pupperoni! Donations will be collected at the Satchel's tent.

It is strongly encouraged that you pick up your race packet (goody bag, t-shirt and number) the evening before to ensure a smooth morning for all.

Packet pick up on Run/Walk Day will begin at 7:30 am (60 minutes before race start) at the race check-in/registration table near the official starting line. Please try to pick up in advance!

Lure Course

Lure coursing is an amazing adventure for any size dog, offering a unique blend of physical exercise and mental engagement and a great way for your dog to run and play safely at a game it loves!

Packet Pickup

Packet Pick up will be held Friday night, March 27th - 4pm-7pm  Fleet Feet 711 South Osprey Ave

Please plan to pick up your packet Friday night to keep things moving smoothly on race day! We will have Race Day registration and any remaining packets will be available for pick up at the registration table. Parking is both out in front of Fleet Feet and across the street at the Dry Cleaners.

 

Swag bags and T-shirts not picked up by 8:30 am Saturday, March 28th are considered forfeited and will be available, first come, first serve to any registrants who did not receive them.

 

Run- Walk Information

Run and walk start at 8:30am. The walk will start immediately after the runners take off!

The run is professionally timed. Awards will be given to fastest overall female and male runners, and to the top 3 finishers in each age group (13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+). Awards will also be given to the first 3 dogs accompanying a runner across the finish line.

Walkers are welcome to walk the full course, or take one of the many short cuts back to the finisher's tent if you wish to do a shorter distance. 

For safety reasons, dogs are limited to 1 per participant during the run/walk. Runners with 4 legged partners please start in the back of the running pack for everyone’s safety- we want to protect all paws from being stepped on! 

All dogs must be on (non-retractable) leashes at all times per park rules.

          

Pre- register by March 13th to guarantee a t-shirt and swag bag. Any leftover t-shirts will be available first come-first serve (at no additional cost to registrants) on race day.

Packet Pick up will take place on Friday night, March 27th from 4-7pm at the New Balance store located at 1872 Stickney Point Rd, Sarasota. Packets can also be picked up the morning of the race/walk but we encourage runners and walkers to come to the Friday night packet pickup to ensure a smooth morning for all participants.

"Day of" registrations and packet pick ups will be done at the registration table near the starting line.
