About Sherrill Fireworks Run: In Memory of Dwight L. Evans
This 5K Run/Walk is in memory of Dwight L. Evans, former mayor of Sherrill and organizer of the first fireworks display at the gazebo. He was an avid reader and lifelong resident of Sherrill who was instrumental in securing funds and plans for the Sherrill Gazebo, a place of community events and concerts since 1989.
Dwight's grandchildren participate in running events and he was there to cheer them on at many of their races.
All proceeds from the Fireworks Run will benefit the Sherrill Kenwood Library and the greater VVS Community.

Start Time:
Kids Fun Run - Ages 10 and under - 8:15 am
(.20 mile run or 1/2 mile run … two options based on age of participant.)
5K Run/Walk - 8:45 am - Start time is 15 minutes earlier for 2026!

The 5K Awards Ceremony will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the Gazebo at Reilly-Mumford Memorial Park.
