About Shootout for Soldiers Kansas City
We’re thrilled to bring this one-of-a-kind Lacrosse Festival & Fundraiser to the heartland – a full day of action, fun, and celebration in support of our nation’s veterans. This is more than just lacrosse - it’s about uniting our community, honoring our heroes, and making memories you won’t forget!
Whether you’ve played for years or have never picked up a stick, this event is for YOU. Young or old, male or female, rookie or pro – everyone is welcome. Don’t have a team? No problem! Sign up as a “Player” and we’ll find you a squad. Our festival format means no brackets, no pressure - just plenty of games, connection, and a guaranteed good time!
What’s happening on game day:
- Skydivers delivering the game ball to kick things off in epic fashion
- Clinics for beginners and veterans of the game
- Skills competitions to test your abilities
- A heartfelt Veteran Celebration Ceremony
- Games for every level: youth, high school, college, post-collegiate, and veteran teams – including KSU alums vs Army alums
- A heated College Division matchup with KU, Mizzou, and Arkansas battling for the Border War Trophy
- Fun, quirky games like kids vs. parents and girls vs. boys (with stick switching!)
- Vendor tents, concessions, a DJ, and a beer garden to keep the energy high
- A military recruiting detachment with personnel and military equipment on display
This day also carries deep meaning as we honor 1LT Donaldson P. Tillar III, the very first lacrosse coach at KSU, who gave his life in service during Operation Desert Storm. His passion for lacrosse and dedication to his country live on through this event and the lacrosse community he inspired.
All Games will be played at the Paragon Star Sports Complex

Registration 101
The event is comprised of 24, 1-hour games in a row and is open to men’s and women’s teams of all ages. Each team that registers gets to play in one 1-hour slot as part of either Stars or Stripes, and we will match you with an opposing team of the same age. Every team must fundraise at a minimum of $750 to play, and the Team Captain makes an initial $100 donation when they create a team. Once the team page is created, players can then click “Join a Team” and type in the name of their team to join. Every player must make an initial $50 donation which sets up their own individual fundraising page and provides the player with a Jersey to play in.

What is Dual Slot Registration?
A dual Slot is when a team will fill both the Stars and Stripes of a given hour. You can register for a “Dual Slot” – which is a minimum $1,500 fundraising goal ($750 for Stars + $750 for Stripes). This is typically used for father-son games, mother-daughter or alumni hours. Last year a boys and girls high school team did a “stick swap” game during the full hour. It’s all about fun and a Dual Slot registration is the perfect way to block out the time to try something new!
Veterans & Active Duty Game
Every event will include a Veterans and Active Duty Game. This game is FREE and interested Veterans and Active Duty service members can register below.
