Pacers
Beast Pacing provides pacers for events across the United States and abroad. Our pacers are professional, but have FUN while helping other runners reach their goals. Whether it is a Boston Qualifying time you are looking for, a P.R., or just someone to run with, we are there to help! Our pacers are chosen for their ability to successfully lead a group while keeping them motivated all the way to the finish. Pacers are assigned to Full Marathon times 20 minutes slower than they typically run (Half Marathon times 10 minutes slower) and are required to finish the race within 1 minute of goal time, but never over.
Where do I meet my pace group on race morning?
About 30 minutes before the start we’ll be assembling in the starting area. Each Pacer will be holding up their pace sign so when you see it go and join up with the group. About 15 minutes before the start the Pacer will give you some last minute instructions about running with the group. They will talk about the course, what to do if you need a break, and how to make it through the water stops. We will be wearing our bright Pace Team uniforms. Now is the time to ask any last minute questions you may have.
Do I have to stay with my pacer the entire race
NO! However, if you feel great at the start of the race that’s normal and you should stay with the group through the halfway point. Then you can consult with the group leader on an appropriate strategy for the second half of the race. If you’re not having a great day then slow down, take some walking breaks and work your way to the finish line. If you’re trying to hit a PR the best advice we can give you is to stick next to your pace leader for the whole race.
What should I do after the race
Celebrate! Please take the time to thank the race volunteers and also let your pace leader know that you appreciate their hard efforts to make it a fun race. These pacers bring a lot of energy and excitement to this race.

Spectators
Spectator Viewing Location: Runners begin in the parking lot east of Howard Wood Field. Spectators can view the runners cross the finish line from the grandstands at Howard Wood Field or at various points along the route(s): Downtown Sioux Falls, Falls Park, Cathedral Historic District, for additional locations please see route maps
- COMMUNICATE - Make the most of race day by planning ahead to find your friends along the course and at the finish line. Be specific about your location, this will help runners find you as well. Give as much detail about your location as you can: “Outside the Commerce Center at 8th/Phillips” is much more helpful than “somewhere on Philips Avenue.”
- CHEER - Everyone likes to be encouraged on race day! Cheer on other runners. Don't forget to bring cowbells, thunder sticks, balloons, and signs!
- KNOW THE ROUTE - Help runners have a successful race by staying clear of course boundaries. This means don't cross the course, and stay on the curb or sidewalks. Most importantly, listen to law enforcement and volunteers along the route.
