The race starts at 8:30, and the course will close at 11:00, after which the water stations will be dismantled and there will be no Marshalls or police escort on the course, so this event is not recommended for walkers.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 2023 damage to the Thruway overpass affect the race?

The bridge is open again to two-way traffic.  We will be running the traditional course,  south on Broadway to join the Esposito trail before 9W. The route is USATF-certified.

What if it is raining?

The race goes ahead, rain or shine.  The only exception would be if there is lightning in the area at the start of the race. In that case we would delay as long as possible, but the race might have to be cancelled at that point and we would not be able to reschedule it. Unfortunately no refunds are possible for a race that is cancelled on the day of the event as all the expenses have already been incurred. We would transfer all runners to the virtual event, and mail out shirts.

What is the elevation change?

Mile 8.3 to 9.1 climbs about 100 feet up from the river into Nyack.  Then it’s a gradual downhill for the last mile on the Esposito trail. Check out the Course Page for more details.

When can I pick up my shirt and race number?

We encourage you to pick up your number in advance. That will avoid the crush on race day morning (and you won't have to shlep your shirt back to your car). Packet pick-up is on the Saturday of the race weekend from 12:00 to 3:00, at Dicks Sporting Goods in the Palisades Center Mall.

When should I arrive on Race Day?

If you are picking up your number on the day, please plan to arrive between 7:00 and 7:30. If you already have your number, there is no additional check-in, you could literally show up at Franklin and Elysian as the gun goes off (it's an air horn these days). But then you'd miss the fun of the Kid's Run and the other pre-race festivities.

Where can I park?

Parking on the streets of South Nyack is unrestricted on Sunday.  We recommend that you arrive early in case you have to hunt for a spot.  There is a Municipal Lot at Cedar Street near the center of Nyack. That's about a third of a mile walk from the Start at Franklin Street. Note that the blocks around the intersection of Main Street and Broadway will be closed for the Nyack Street Fair which begins at 10:00. There is also a parking lot at the Rockland Landing of the Bridge Path, which is about a half mile walk to the race start at  Franklin Street Park..

About that Street Fair?

Yes, it's awesome.  Make sure you stick around the race site for the after party and the awards, then amble a few blocks north for street food and arts and crafts at Nyack's Street Fair.

You said something about Awards?

Yes, the top runners in each gender category (Male, Female and Non-Binary) will get overall awards.  We will also award the top three in the following age categories: 12 - 19, each 5 year increment and 75 - 99. The awards are Gold, Silver and Bronze medals with the race logo imprinted.

Where are the the Fluid Stations on The Course?

There will be fluid stops approximately every 1.5 miles. (1.5, 3. 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9).   The 4.5 mile turnaround will have Gatorade and water, the others will have just water.  There will also be water at the finish.  Runners may wear hydration packs if they wish to carry their own fluids.

Can I run with Headphones / My Pet / A Stroller

We strongly discourage using headphones during the race.  They reduce your awareness of other runners around you, or instructions from marshals, and increase the risk of a collision. Pets and Strollers are absolutely not permitted.
