Spartan Sprint 5K & Family Fun Run 

Register now for the first-ever Spartan Sprint 5K & Family Fun Run as part of ECC Homecoming Week 2026. This event is open to all ECC students, alumni, employees, and community members. Join us for a morning of movement, connection, and Spartan pride. Whether you're an experienced runner, casual walker, or cheering on family and friends, everyone can participate.

Registration includes a commemorative Spartan Sprint T-shirt and supports the Elgin Community College Foundation's efforts to create opportunities for students through scholarships, programs, and educational initiatives.

After the race, join us for the Welcome Home Spartan Family Picnic and continue the celebration with fellow Spartans. Together, we'll honor ECC's past, celebrate its present, and help build a brighter future for the next generation of students. Once a Spartan, always a Spartan!

8:45 - 9:45 a.m.    Check-in and Kickoff

10:00 a.m.            Fun Run Start

10:15 a.m.            Race Starts 

11:15 a.m.            Awards Ceremony

$25 – Age 11 and older

$15 – children aged 5 - 10 years old

Children under 4 are free

Race Notes: 

• The Fun Run and 5K will be held rain or shine unless canceled due to unsafe weather conditions. Participants will be notified of any cancellation. No rain date will be scheduled.
• This is an all terrain course. 
• No Refunds
• Race fees includes -
  • Adults:  Bib with timing element, long sleeve tee shirts, water, snacks
  • Children: Bib without timing element, foam Spartan sword, water, snacks (tee shirts as supplies last).
• Welcome Home Spartan Picnic will follow the Race where there will be Food Trucks available to purchase lunch and/or bring your own. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy community.
