St Leo - Run Leo 5K, 10K, and John Hanson Fun Run

Registration Is OPEN for the 2026 Run Leo road races!

Run Leo is one of the premier races in the Triad with upwards of 1000 runners each year. 
It is the main fund raiser in support of the children of St. Leo Catholic School.

Our 2026 Run Leo Road Race will be run on Saturday, March 14th.
If you sign up for the virtual race, you can run it any time between the 9th and the 14th. Then, post your times and pictures by the 14th.

So, come join us!

Registration works the same as in years past. We will post your time on our web site and you'll get a quality t-shirt.
Finally, of course, you'll show your support for our wonderful students and faculty.

Parking is available in the parking lot behind the school and there is street parking around the school and church. Please be courteous to our neighbors and do not block any driveways.

If you are attending the later race, plan accordingly as you will have to park on the street and walk to the start/finish line. 

For the 5K & 10K, awards are issued to the top three male and female overall finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers broken down by age group.

Award ceremony for both events, Big Roar Finishers and Fastest Family will be held at the conclusion of the 5K in the gymnasium. Approximately 9:50am 

• The Winston-Salem Police Department and/or Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will be stationed along the route for traffic control, safety and security.

• Course monitor volunteers will be stationed at key intersections to guide participants and provide assistance as needed.  

• Volunteers will be stationed near the race finish for any persons in need of medical assistance.

• All volunteers are instructed to contact their Volunteer Captain or the Race Director in the event of any emergency situation that arises during the event.  Call 911 first if appropriate.

• Run Leo is a rain or shine event. Only in the event of lightning, the race may be postponed or cancelled.  Announcements will be made on the PA system and communicated by messaging to Volunteers and Police along the route

  • We will monitor for lighting strikes via the lightning strike radar map on weatherbug.com. The detection tower for this map is located at Old Town Country Club
  • Any lightning strike within 10 miles will result in a 30 minutes postponement of the race start time. Race participants and volunteers are to seek shelter in adequately grounded structure. (building or vehicle)
  • If lightning strike occurs once runners are already on the race course, this information will be communicated to police and volunteers on the race course and everyone should move to shelter as soon as possible.

Looking for a bigger challenge? Sign up for The Big Roar and register to run both the 5K and 10K races in the same day.   Finishers will receive a Big Roar shirt upon the submission of time for both races. $10 discount applied on the checkout page for participants that register for the 5K and 10K race.
