Supporting the 5k gives your business the opportunity to support the Take Stock in Children program that is administered locally by The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, which provides a unique opportunity for deserving low-income youth to escape the cycle of poverty through education. Students are selected between the 6th and 9th grades and must meet our low-income and at-risk guidelines. If chosen, the students along with their parents sign a contract agreeing to maintain good behavior, remain crime and drug free, maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher, and meet with a mentor regularly. If the students adhere to these requirements while in the Take Stock in Children program, they will be awarded a four-year college tuition scholarship upon high school graduation.
