Superhero Fun Run 3K 2026

Superheroes Unite! Join us on April 18 at 8:30A with your friends and family and show off your superpower at the Superhero Fun Run 3K, taking place at the Sensory Garden Playground!

All participants are invited to wear their favorite superhero attire for this 3K Fun Run – so break out your Wonder Woman costume, Captain America t-shirt, or Iron Man mask! Along the way, you will see some of your favorite superheroes cheer you on! After the run, stick around at the playground for music, character meet and greets, and more fun! All participants will receive giveaway items and post-race refreshments.  

Superhero Fun Run is an untimed run/walk that is open to all ages and abilities. Superhero Fun Run is presented by the Wheaton Park District and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Play for All Playground & Garden Foundation, in support of the Sensory Garden Playground.

If you are participating with a stroller or wheelchair, please note that part of the course will be on paved streets and part of the course will be on crushed limestone/unpaved trails throughout Danada Forest Preserve. If you require special accommodations, please contact us at least 15 days in advance of the run at events@wheatonparks.org.

Race Route
The 3K race route will take place at the Sensory Garden Playground (2751 International Dr., Lisle, IL 60532). Participants will park in the Science of Spirituality parking lot (4105 Naperville Rd, Lisle, IL 60532) and line up at the race start. The race will run through Danada Forest Preserve and the finish line will be at the Sensory Garden Playground.  Please note: Part of the course will be on paved streets and part of the course will be on crushed limestone/unpaved trails throughout Danada Forest Preserve.

 

Spectators
Spectators can watch participants at the start and finish lines and along the race route. Spectators may not enter the course or interfere with the course.

Age Limit
Kids and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate in this fun run!

Waiver
Every participant is required to sign/agree to the waiver when registering online. For those under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign/agree to the waiver.

Inclement Weather
This race will happen rain or shine! The run committee monitors the weather and follows the proper protocol in place regarding inclement weather including but not limited to thunderstorms, tornadoes and heat. The run committee holds the right to cancel, alter, or postpone the event in the interest of runner, volunteer and staff safety. Registration is non-refundable.

 

Can we bring strollers? Pets? Skates? Bicycles?
Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome but must start the race from the back of the heat. When running with a stroller or wheelchair, please be conscious of the other runners in front of you who may stop suddenly. Please note: part of the course will be on paved streets and part of the course will be on crushed limestone/unpaved trails throughout Danada Forest Preserve.

The following are prohibited on the course: pets, dogs, bicycles, in-line skates or other wheeled items. Service dogs must be approved 1 week before the race by emailing the Race Director at events@wheatonparks.org.

What is the Superhero 3K Fun Run?

What should I wear?
Anything to represent your favorite superhero! Whether it is a Spiderman suit, a DC or Marvel t-shirt, a Wonder Woman tiara, or Captain America's shield, we welcome participation at any level. 

 

When is Packet Pickup?
Packet pickup will be held on Thursday, April 16 from 12 - 7P at the Central Athletic Complex (500 S. Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187). Packets may also be picked up on race day, Saturday, April 18 from 7:30 - 8:15A at the Sensory Garden Playground (2751 International Dr., Lisle, IL 60532).

 

Are strollers/wheelchairs allowed?
Strollers and wheelchairs are allowed but will be asked to line up in the last wave of the race start. Participant safety is of the utmost importance, therefore, bicycles, in-line skates, and other wheeled vehicles (except wheelchairs) are not allowed. Any person riding in a stroller must remain in the stroller for the duration of the race. Please note: part of the course will be on paved streets and part of the course will be on crushed limestone/unpaved trails throughout Danada Forest Preserve.

 

Can my pet participate?
Pets are NOT permitted in this race. This is for the safety of your pet. Service animals must be approved by the race director ONE WEEK before race day.

VIRTUAL RACE FAQ

What is a virtual race? Is there a virtual race course?
A virtual race can be completed by participants on their favorite outdoor run/walk route or on a treadmill. There is no official race route or start time. 

 

Will virtual runners be allowed to participate in the in-person race?
No. If you would like to transfer to in-person, please email the Race Director at events@wheatonparks.org. 

 

Can I pick up my giveaway at packet pick-up?
Yes!  Virtual runners are encouraged to pick up their giveaway at packet pick-up. Packet pick-up will be Thursday, April 16 from 12 - 7P at the Central Athletic Complex (500 S. Naperville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187). If you cannot make the pre-race packet pick-up, racers may pick up their packets on Saturday, April 18 from 7:30 - 8:15A at the Sensory Garden Playground (2751 International Dr., Lisle, IL 60532).
