About Take the Lake Challenge
A virtual challenge to cover the distance around Lake Norman! At 520 miles in perimeter, Lake Norman is the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina. Grab a friend/family member/running buddy (or 2 or 3 or 4) or tackle it solo! Participants will all receive a race tee, finisher medal, and a pair of custom socks upon completion!
The challenge will take place from June 1 - August 31 and you can log running/walking miles, biking miles, swimming miles, and/or paddle or row miles. For individuals, you will cover all the miles yourself - running, biking, swimming, paddling, rowing or some combo of all! For teams, each member contributes. The total of all the miles covered will be added together to reach the mileage goal. Each member will be able to log their miles, and those miles will get added to the team mileage.
Tracking/logging miles is super simple. You will simply click on RESULTS, then hit the button that says "Submit Virtual Results" and follow the on screen prompts. You can log miles daily or weekly, whatever you choose. You can also log as many times a day as you need, which is great for kids who go out and ride their bike 10 times and want to log each time..
If you have any trouble logging results, CLICK HERE for more information.
Participants can be from anywhere but shipping addresses need to be to U.S. mailboxes.
Entry fee includes the shipping of all your swag directly to your mailbox. You'll be able to enter a shipping address during registration - this can be different from the address you enter when you first enter your information. The shipping address confirmation for you and anyone else you register will pop up when you get close to completing the registration process.
Great swag!
All participants will receive an event tee (unisex or women's cut), custom event socks, and a finisher's medal!

FAQs
How do I log my miles?
You will log your miles directly through Run Sign Up. Click on RESULTS on the menu bar. You'll see a button there that says "submit virtual results" and you'll be able to follow the on screen prompts through the process. You can also go to your profile, under Events, select submit results, and access it that way. You will be able to select the type of activity (run, walk, cycling) and how many miles you covered that day. You have the option to enter the time but it's optional. If you did a run/walk combo, just choose whichever activity (run or walk) you want. It's the distance that's the goal.
You will get an email with instructions on how to log miles as well. But if you have any trouble, just shoot us an email and we'll get you all sorted out.
When do I get the swag?
All swag items will be mailed out at the beginning of August.
I see there's a Youth Challenge. Does that mean someone 17 or under can't do the main challenge as individual or part of team?
Nope! There's no age limit on the 520 Mile Individual or Team event or the Double Lake events. The Youth event is available for those who want their own challenge and individual goal and to be ranked among other youth challengers.
For teams, do we have to divide the miles up equally?
Nope! Each team member will be able to log their own miles and all member miles will accumulate. The goal is hit the miles for the event you signed up for, the distribution of miles among members doesn't matter.
If I sign up after June 1 (the first day of the challenge), can I back log my miles that I did on those days before I signed up?
Yes. If you sign up on June 10, you can log your miles from June 1 and on.
Can I see where I stand in the Challenge among other participants?
Yes. Click on RESULTS and you'll be able to see all the stats.
