About The Homestretch 5K
Celebrate Head of School Percy L. Abram's eleven years of leadership at The Homestretch 5K!
Bush families, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and supporters are invited to this family and dog-friendly event. The event will occur at Magnuson Park and includes a a certified 5K (3.1 miles) course and a Kids 400 Meter Dash Kids, plus a live DJ, participation medals, and a post-race picnic.
Everyone is welcome, so come ready to run, walk, or stroll at this final full-community celebration of Percy's tenure as Head of School! All proceeds benefit the Percy L. Abram for Inclusion, Equity, and Justice.

FAQ
Dogs allowed? Yes, dogs need to start at the back of the race, distanced a little from the crowd. They need to be kept on a short leash. Please keep a passing lane open on your left-hand side at all times. Please bring the means the clean up after them.
Strollers allowed? Yes, you may run or walk with a stroller. We ask that you leave a passing lane on your left. The course is a mix or road, gravel and a little grass so keep that in mind.
Gear Check? We will have a gear check tent on site.
Chip timed? The race is chip timed and your bib will have the timing chip on the back. Please have your bib on the outer most garment to make sure it gets picked up by the chip reader. Results will be available same-day, barring any equipment or electronic malfunction.
Are there awards or medals? The first 500 people to register will receive a participation medal, children included!
Is there a time limit? Participants have two hours to complete the race. If you need more time, contact us at alumni@bush.edu at least one week prior to the event day.
Are headphones allowed? Headphones are not allowed near the start/finish area. Other areas of the course you may wear them but please be alert as the course is open to the public and the park has many other activities going on.
Parking/Directions
Parking
There are four parking lot options. The earlier you arrive the more likely you will be able to park close to the start. Additional parking lot options are a varying five to twenty minute walk to the start and registration area. As always, we encourage carpooling or alternative transportation if possible.
*If using Waze or Google Maps: searching for “The Fin Project” by John T. Young will get you right to event parking. If using Apple Maps: searching for the “Magnuson Boat Launch” will get you close - event signage will direct you further up the path to main event parking.

BY BUS:

Once you reach Magnuson Park via Sand Point way it is about a 15-20minute walk east to the start area. You can follow cross park trail or follow the driving directions to get to the start line.
BY BIKE:
The Burke-Gilman Trail is approximately ¼ mile west of Warren G. Magnuson Park. With a traffic signal and crosswalks, the N.E. 65th Street crossing is the safest point to enter the park. There are bike racks by the start/finish. Please note that bicycle riding is limited to paved surfaces within Warren G. Magnuson Park.
BY CAR:
From Interstate 5 you can exit at either N.E. 45th Street (Exit #169) or N.E. 65th Street (Exit #171).
From the N.E. 45th Street exit:
- Go east on 45th, past the University of Washington, and down the 45th Street ramp.
- Continue east past University Village Shopping Center.
- Bear left and continue about 2 miles on Sand Point Way.
- You will pass Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center and Sand Point Village/Princeton Avenue.
From the I-5 N.E. 65th Street exit, head east approximately four miles on 65th (stay on the arterial!) until you have crossed Sand Point Way N.E. into the N.E. 65th Street entrance to Warren G. Magnuson Park.
From State Route 520 (SR520):
- Take the Montlake Boulevard exit (north) and continue north about 1 mile.
- Bear to the right as Montlake Boulevard becomes NE 45th Street, continue past University Village Shopping Center.
- Continue east through the NE 45th/Union Bay Place intersection. As the street bears to the left and north, it then becomes Sand Point Way NE.
- Continue on Sand Point Way NE about 2 miles, you will pass Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center and Sand Point Village/Princeton Avenue.
From Interstate 90 (I-90):
- Take Interstate 5 north about and continue about 4.5 miles to Exit #169, NE 45th Street.
- At the stoplight, turn right onto NE 45th Street and continue east about 1.5 miles, passing the University of Washington campus and heading down a steep hill.
- At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stoplight and continue east on NE 45th Street.
- NE 45th Street will bear left and become Sand Point Way NE.
- Continue on Sand Point Way NE about 2 miles, you will pass Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center and Sand Point Village/Princeton Avenue.
