About Peach Pedal

Come for the pedal and stay for the peaches! Peach Pedal is hosted in conjunction with the Downtown Kirkwood Sidewalk Sale and Kirkwood Farmer’s Market Peach Festival, so after your ride, stick around to enjoy peach treats and support local Kirkwood small businesses.

Kirkwood, MO, was the first planned suburb west of the Mississippi, designed with the railroads in mind to offer city workers a peaceful retreat. Named after civil engineer James Pugh Kirkwood, the town’s grid-patterned streets, tree-lined avenues, and welcoming sidewalks make it an ideal location for cyclists and pedestrians alike. Its vibrant charm and rich history create the perfect backdrop for a memorable cycling experience.

Choose from four route options tailored for every type of cyclist — from beginners to seasoned pros, and families too! With full support along the way and post-ride festivities at the Peach Festival, this event is the perfect blend of active fun and local celebration.

This ride features the Gravois Greeenway on some routes.

Family Ride (approximately 8.3 miles):

The Family Ride is an 8.3  mile out and back route that takes riders to Grant’s Trail. The beginning and end of this ride is on open roads. There is no rest stop offered on this route. Make sure you are able to carry your own water and nutrition. Riders can pick up their fresh peach before the ride to take along or after to refuel. Cooling towels and refreshments are available at the finish line. Riders should use caution on all roads that are open to motorist traffic and follow local rules of the road.

Short Ride (approximately 23.3 miles):

This ride shares the first 7.3 miles with the Long and Medium Routes. The route is primarily surface streets with a short section of Grant's Trail. There is one rest stop for this route located at Marthoma Church around 7.3 miles into the ride. Riders should use caution on all roads that are open to motorist traffic and follow local rules of the road.

Medium Ride (approximately 35.7 miles):

The Medium Ride shares the first 8.6 miles with the Long Ride before splitting south where it later rejoins the Long Route. The route is primarily on residential roads. Rest stops are located at approximately 7.3, 15.7 miles and 29 miles along the route. The route avoids road construction on W Watson by navigating through the Tapawingo neighborhood. Look for pink markings on the road through this area. There will not be any elevated signage. Riders should use caution on all roads that are open to motorist traffic and follow local rules of the road.

Long Ride (approximately 49.6 miles):

The Long Ride navigates some of the more challenging roads in the St. Louis area with significant elevation gain. E-bikes are not recommended unless the battery can last the duration of the ride. Rest stops are located at approximately 7.3 miles, 16.3 miles, 29.5 miles and 42.6 miles along the route. Much of the route is exposed with no shade. Riders should arrive well hydrated. The route is primarily on roadways.  Riders must use caution and follow the rules of the road.

Alternate Route: Ride day is expected to be very hot and humid. Riders should carefully consider their fitness level and conditioning before riding in the high heat and humidity. For riders on the Long and Medium Rides, an alternate route is available that takes riders directly back to the finish line soon after Rest Stop #3, reducing the distance by about 15 miles. We strongly encourage this route be taken if arriving at Rest Stop #3 after 11:00 AM
