What is a Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk?
The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of
Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after
strapping on his gear and running 3 miles through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin
Towers. We honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 by supporting our first
responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! For more

How far is a Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk?
This is a 5K (3.1 miles). You are welcome to walk or run this event.
Can I get a timing chip?
Timing chips are not planned for our event in 2026.
Where can I pick up my packet?
Packet pickup will be Friday, 9/11/2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM, at Red Wheel Bike Shop, 400 W.
Main Street, Jefferson City, MO. Packet pickup will also be offered on Saturday, 9/12/2026, from
7:00 to 8:15 AM, on the South Lawn of the Capitol, look for signs.
Can I register the day of the run?
Yes, online registration will remain open until 8:30 AM on Saturday, 9/12/2026.
When does online registration close?
Online registration will close at 8:30 AM on 9/12/2026.
Is parking available?
PLEASE NOTE CHANGES FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. Yes, free parking is available on streets
adjacent to High Street and Capitol Avenue. A Labor Day parade is scheduled at 11 AM on
Saturday, so parking in State lots may be limited. More parking details will be sent to registered
participants and posted on our Facebook page, closer to the event.
Do I have to wear my bib number?
Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment. Those who run without a bib
will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.
I am a fast runner. Can I get a front line position?
Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral (arrive
early). Announcements will be made regarding positions before the event begins.
Will water be available?
Yes, two water stations will be available along the route and there will be water available at the
Finish Line.
What can you bring to the event? Can I run with a stroller, backpack, wheelchair, roller
blades, bicycle, etc.?
Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted. Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also
permitted. Please leave all personal items and valuables in your vehicle. All items should be stored securely at the owner's risk. Tunnel to Towers Foundation will not be responsible for the loss of any items.
Does my registration fee count towards my fundraising goal?
No, your registration fee does not count toward the fundraising goal.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes, they can. They must present a copy of your registration receipt.
Can I still donate to a team and/or individual after the start of the race?
Yes. Donations will be accepted for 6 weeks after the event.
How can my company/organization sponsor this event?
We accept in-kind and monetary donations for our event. Please email Roxy Van Pool, at
jeffersoncity@t2t.org or call 573-690-3078. We have sponsorship levels that allow your
organization to participate in our event, have your logo on the event shirt, and mentioned at the
event. All donations and sponsorships are welcome to help us keep our costs at a minimum.
As a participant, can I fundraise/encourage others to donate?
Yes! Once you are registered, you will be given directions to start your own fundraising page and
will be able to accept donations online. Do you want to donate but have questions? Contact us at
573-690-3078 and we can walk you through the process. We will be sure to get your donations
added to your fundraising page.
Can I get a refund?
We do not provide refunds for the event if you cannot make the date or if the Tunnel to Towers Foundation
needs to cancel the event for extenuating circumstances.
Can I transfer my registration to another participant?
We prefer not to transfer your registration to another participant, but contact us if you have
circumstances that prevent you from participating and we will consider your request.

Do registrants get receipts?
When you register online, by credit card, you will automatically receive a receipt by email. If
paying by cash/check in person, a receipt is available upon request.
Is there a medical staff available on-site?
Yes, there will be an Emergency Medical Service team available on site.
Are pets allowed to walk or run?
Yes, but all pets must remain on a leash, at all times.
