Valor 5K & Kids' Mile

              Valor is intangible, but its presence is undeniable. It is the great courage shown in the face of danger. 

Kids' Mile (6-12)
Awards will be given to the Overall Male & Female in the following age groups: 6-8, 9-10, 11-12

Valor 5K

• Overall Male/Female 

  • 1st: $225

  • 2nd: $125

  • 3rd: $100

• Overall Masters (40+) Male/Female: $75

• Overall Grand Masters (50+) Male/Female: $50

• Monetary awards are given in form of Truist Gift Card

• Age Group Awards will be provided to the top 3 males/females in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over

• No duplication of awards

• Awards ceremony will immediately follow the completion of the 5K

Team Award

Teams will consist of 3 or more individual runners in the 5K and can be any combination of genders. Each runner on the team will race as an individual and be eligible for overall/age group awards. The top 3 finishers on a team will have their individual times added together and scored for the team competition. An award will be given out to the top team.

The Kids' Mile will begin and finish in the same area as the 5K.
The Kids' Mile is an out and back course.

Where do we park?
Parking will be located on Airport property and along Admiral Byrd Drive. Volunteers will direct you where to park.

What time are the races?
The Valor 5K & the Kids' Mile start at 8 AM.

 
Can someone else run with my race bib? 
For the safety and security of all our runners, participants are not permitted to run with someone else’s race bib.

Where can I pick up my race packet? 
Race BIBs and T-shirts can be picked up on race day at the event location, from 6:45-7:45 AM. Look for tables set up at the rear area of the Airport Terminal with signs that read, "Registration" and "Check-In". Provide your name to the volunteers at that location and they will check you in, provide your bib and send you to the T-shirt table to obtain your shirt if you have pre-ordered one. 

Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
You may authorize another person to pick up your packet/bib number.

Will spectators be allowed to view the finish?
Yes, there will be plenty of space to view the finish.

Will there be an awards ceremony? What are the award categories?
Yes, the awards ceremony will happen directly after the race is completed. Award information can be found on the race info page of this site.

Where will my results be posted?
Live results will be uploaded to the Registration Page. Look for the Results QR Code near the Registration.

Will there be porta potties on the course?
Yes, portable bathrooms will be located just inside the fence near the airport terminal.

Will there be hydration on the course? 
Water will be available at the start and finish line areas, as well as two hydration stations on the race course.

Are headphones, strollers or pets allowed during the race?
Since this course is on closed runway, vehicles will not be an issue, therefore headphones and strollers are allowed. However, patrons who decide to push a stroller will be required to start the race at the rear of the field of runners. Pets are NOT allowed on the race course under any circumstances.

While the Frederick County Sheriff's Office and Winchester Regional Airport tries to make our race course as safe as possible through good course management, marshaling, and marking, we believe that runners have a responsibility for their own safety and the safety of the runners around them.
