Join us for the inaugural VCG - Freedom 5K (Friendswood), a fun, family-oriented Veterans Weekend event benefiting Veteran College Grants (VCG), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families pursue college degrees, trade schools, technical certifications, and new career opportunities after military service.

Held annually on the Saturday before Veterans Day, this patriotic community event honors the men and women who served our country while helping raise educational grants and scholarships for veterans, spouses, and children.

Many military education benefits do not fully cover the true cost of higher education. VCG exists to help bridge that gap and ensure veteran families have additional support when pursuing their educational goals.

Participants will enjoy a historic scenic run/walk through beautiful Old Town Friendswood beneath the city’s iconic oak trees. Whether you are running for a personal best, walking with family, pushing a stroller, or bringing your dog along, this event is designed for the entire community to come together in observance of Veterans Day.

Event Details:

• Location: Stevenson Park (near the swimming pool)
• Race Start: 7:30 AM
• Check-In: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Parking: Available at Friendswood City Hall and the main park

The race will be professionally chip timed by Run Houston Timing and will feature a professional inflatable start/finish line with digital race clock display.

Participants Receive:

      • Gold Finisher 5K Medal
      • Official Race Bib
      • Ultra Soft Performance Event Shirt (First 300 registered participants are guaranteed their selected shirt size)

Additional Family Activities:

• Coffee Station
• Face Painting for Families and Children
• Patriotic Veterans Weekend Atmosphere

Registration:
• Adults: $35
• Children Under 12: $20

Participants are "encouraged" to help support the mission further by fundraising a minimum of $100 for Veteran College Grants. Every dollar raised helps support educational opportunities for deserving veteran families.
