YMCA Harrisburg Half & 10K

The YMCA Harrisburg Half Marathon course starts on City Island and runs along the scenic Riverfront Park in the downtown Harrisburg community. It’s an ideal course that’s friendly for runners of all abilities — beginners enjoy the lack of elevation while more experienced runners strive for personal bests. In 20 years of existence, the YMCA Harrisburg Half has experienced tremendous growth and is quickly becoming one of the most loved running events in Central Pennsylvania.

The UPMC YMCA Harrisburg Half Marathon & 10K are a fall favorite! Both courses (Half Marathon and 10K) start and finish on City Island. The course maneuvers through Harrisburg and along the Susquehanna River using portions of the Greenbelt. You will experience scenic views of Harrisburg City and the Susquehanna River as you enjoy the company of other runners and walkers. Award Times & Locations

• Approximately 20-30 minutes after the first finisher, we will start to hand out awards at the awards table. Simply make your way over to the awards table to confirm the results. If you won an award, the volunteers will hand you your medal.

Can I wear headphones?

Since this is an open road course, headphones are highly discouraged and not recommended. It is important to be alert and aware while on the course.

Can I run with my child in a baby jogger or with my dog on a leash?

No, we do not allow baby joggers or animals on the course for safety reasons.

Will there be post-race nutrition?

Yes, there will be food available after the race for participants. The food is available to participants only. Spectators or anyone without a race bib will not be permitted in the food line. Please do not take food for anyone other than yourself.

All participants will receive a finisher medal.

Finisher medals will show the race distance on the ribbon. 

The Harrisburg Half Marathon and 10K finisher medal is the second medal of the 3-piece "Gotta Get the Set".

If you did not participate in the spring Halfity-Half, you can still participate virtually to receive a medal.

The Harrisburg Half & 10K finisher medal is the second medal of the 3-piece set. You can earn all of the pieces of the set by participating in the YMCA Halfity Half Marathon (you can still participate virtually), YMCA Half Marathon & 10k, and the YMCA Harrisburg Marathon, Half, & Relay!

This year's medal set is inspired by our 19th century logo and mission, a commitment to the betterment of spirit, mind, and body for all.

The UPMC Harrisburg Half & 10K, held on Sunday, Sept 7, 2025, is our third race of the 2025 YMCA Race Series presented by Donegal Insurance! Check out the other 2025 race events and dates.

Welcome to the Harrisburg Area YMCA Race Series — some of the highest quality, family friendly and competitive running events in the region. This series supports the Harrisburg Area YMCA, a cause-driven and charitable organization that provides programs for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility throughout the Capital Region. Come out and support your community YMCA by running in one race or the whole series. Who knows, maybe you can even qualify for the Boston Marathon at the YMCA Harrisburg Marathon.

In-person registration is available at Packet Pick-ups and on race day. All registrations are completed using a computer or mobile device. Paper registrations are not offered. You can continue to register using your personal computer or device through Saturday, September 6 at 5:00pm. Laptops will be available at packet pickups.

Race day registration is available on Sunday, September 7, 6:45-7:45am on City Island. Race day registrations can be paid by credit card (RSU fees apply), check or exact cash. Please go to the REGISTRATION page to view race day registration costs. Race shirt sizes are not guaranteed.

Pacers will be provided for the Half Marathon distance.

All participants and spectators can park on City Island, which is also the location of packet pick-up and the start/finish line. Please be on City Island no later than 30 minutes prior to your start time. 

Please be aware that with the quantity of participants and the limited access to City Island, there is sometimes a delay and backup of traffic. Please plan your arrival time accordingly.

Porta-potties will be located near the start/finish line and adjacent to all water stations.
