About The Memorial Day Classic
We are excited to announce that the 19th annual Memorial Day Classic 5K & 1-mile family fun-run/walk will be happening on May 25, 2026 at Drakes Creek Park, Hendersonville, TN. We also have a virtual option as well!
Here’s how it works:
1. All participants are strongly encouraged to register by May 21 at 5pm to be eligible to pick up your race bibs and race t-shirts at Sumner County YMCA on Friday, May 22 from 5-7pm or Saturday, May 23 from 8am-1pm.
All VIRTUAL race participants must pick up their t-shirts at these times. They will not be available on race day.
2. Packet Pickup will be available beginning at 6am on race day.
3. Registration is available online ONLY at TheMemorialDayClassic.com.
4. Opening Ceremonies will be held at the finish line at 7am sharp. The Hendersonville Fire Department will help us honor our brave veterans during the opening ceremonies.
5. Races will have a gun start at the following times 5K 7:30am and 1 Mile 8:30am. The 5K is chip timed. The 1 Mile is a FUN run/walk and not timed. Children participating in the 1 Mile will be given the opportunity to go to the front at the starting line.
6. We will have water stops on the course and food at the finish line.
7. Awards will be given to the TOP male and female overall finishers in the LIVE 5K race and TOP male and female overall Masters (40+) finishers in the LIVE 5K race at the conclusion of the event.
Everyone in the 5K race will be able to see their results after the races via a link on this website.
8. We are asking all 5K participants to park in the parking lot by the football field at the Cherokee entrance of the park. This parking lot will not be available after 7am. All 1 Mile participants are asked to park in Life.Church parking lot on Indian Lake Road.

The 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk will start in the park on the bridge over Drakes Creek near the finish line.

How to Create a Team Fundraiser
Fundraisers are intended to give individuals and groups a way to participate and make a difference for the cause together. You can join a team and give or fundraise for the CCPC whether or not you register and participate in the race. Fundraisers and Fundraising Teams, make it quick and easy to share on social media or via email or text and ask your friends and family to donate to the CCPC.

How to Create a Fundraising Team Anytime
- First you need to create a Fundraiser
- Select the “Give or Fundraise” drop down
- Select Become a Fundraiser.
- Enter in a name for your new Fundraiser
- Enter in a goal for your new Fundraiser
- Add a message to describe your Fundraiser
- Now you will create the Fundraising Team
- Enter in a name for your Fundraising Team.
- Enter in a goal for your new Fundraising Team.

How to Create a Fundraising Team During Registration
You will be given the option to create a Fundraising Team inside of the registration process.

How to Join a Fundraising Team During Registration
You will be given the option to join a Fundraising Team inside of the registration process. Here are step by step instructions:
- Select Sign Up to begin the registration process.
- Enter in all participant information and click Continue
- First you need to create a “Fundraiser” for yourself.
- Select Become a Fundraiser.
- Enter in a name for your new Fundraiser
- Enter in a goal for your new Fundraiser
- Add a message to describe your Fundraiser
- Now you will join the Fundraising Team
- Click the drop down to find and select your Fundraising Team.
- Now select any donation levels that you would like to donate towards your Fundraiser
- Select who this donation will be on behalf of
- Click Continue
- Complete your registration
How to Join a Fundraising Team Anytime
You have the option to join a Fundraising Team after you’ve registered OR even if you don’t plan to register or participate in the race:
- Select the “Give or Fundraise” drop down menu
- Select Become a Fundraiser.
- Enter in a name for your new Fundraiser

- Now you will join the Fundraising Team
- Click the drop down to find and select your Fundraising Team.

The Memorial Day Classic has a “no refund” policy.
Pet Policy
The Memorial Day Classic has a “no pet” policy. This is for the safety of all.
Stroller Policy
Strollers are welcome! We just ask that runners with strollers start at the back of the starting line and be mindful of runners on the course!
Weather Conditions Policy
The Memorial Day Classic follows the recommendations of the Road Runners Club of America concerning adverse weather conditions. The race will be cancelled, postponed, modified or shortened by an appropriate amount if (1) the dew point is 80 degrees F or above, or (2) lightning is present.
The race committee and medical director will determine whether to modify, postpone or cancel the race. This is a charitable event, and no refunds will be given if the race is postponed, modified or cancelled due to severe weather conditions. The event will not be rescheduled to a later date if cancelled.
Ear Buds
Ear buds are discouraged for safety reasons. If using ear buds please keep one removed as to listen for directions on the course from traffic monitors, etc.
Course Etiquette
Because a good portion of the race is on the Hendersonville Greenway, we ask that you keep to the right and no more than two wide. If you hear a runner coming, please allow him/her to pass on your left.
Please stay home if you exhibit any of the following:
· Fever of 100.4 or higher
· Chills
· Cough
· Sore throat
· Congestion or runny nose
· Nausea or vomiting
· Diarrhea

We are excited to also offer the option to participate in the Memorial Day Classic 5K & 1-mile family fun run/walk virtually on your own on a course of your choosing.
Here’s how it works:
1. Register soon to be assured a t-shirt. Registration will end May 25 at noon.
2. Select the VIRTUAL category when you sign up.
3. Complete your distance on your own, on a course of your choosing any day through May 25 at 5pm. Remember to print your commemorative bib before taking off on your run!
4. Use your favorite tracking app or watch to keep track of your distance and finish time.
5. Submit your results to be added to the leader board by May 25 at 5pm. Learn how to submit your results here. Be sure to print off your finisher certificate after you submit your results!
6. Pickup your commemorative T-shirt for the VIRTUAL race at Sumner County YMCA on the following dates:
